A long time passion project “EWM Wiki”

I have been working with SAP Warehouse Management (SAP WM) for nearly 35 years and with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) for nearly 17 years. I began my career on SAP R/2 running on AS/400 mainframe systems—something that now sounds like the Stone Age.

Since 2008, I have been working extensively with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM). I was the very first participant in an SAP EWM training class held in Houston, Texas. Our instructor was Glen Gordon, and the training was based on SCM EWM 5.0. Shortly thereafter, SAP released versions 5.1, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, followed by 9.0 through 9.6. Today, we have SAP S/4HANA with both Embedded EWM and Decentralized EWM solutions.

Currently, I am implementing an SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS02 Decentralized EWM solution for the Department of National Defense, including EWM Explosives Management.

Spending over 35 years focused exclusively on SAP WM and SAP EWM has given me extensive and hands-on experience in Supply Chain Management—especially in warehouse and logistics solutions. Over the years, I have worked across a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare, food, consumer packaged goods, aerospace, defense and military, airlines, ceramics and tiles, cement, central banking, public sector, utilities, automotive and spare parts, wholesale distribution centers, and apparel and fashion.

At some point, I felt it was time to create an online platform to share this experience—both to support young consultants starting their SAP journey and to facilitate knowledge exchange among seasoned SAP Supply Chain professionals.

I hope you find this platform and my knowledge sharing useful. Please keep in mind, however, that everything shared here is based solely on my personal experience and on solutions I have implemented in the past. These approaches may not work exactly the same way in your system or your specific business scenario.

For this reason, you should always consult SAP directly or validate solutions thoroughly before applying them in your productive environment.

Best regards,
P.Eng. Ayhan Akkaya
